So, we broke the trip into two segments:
1. 10 hour drive to Clinton, MO, to visit with Grandma Salmon. I loved the two days we spent with her because I was able to learn so much history about the Salmon family (my honey's family) and see where my honey spent a lot of his childhood. He had told me about places in Clinton at different times so I was very excited to get to see these places myself!
2. 10.5 hours drive from Clinton, MO, to Aberdeen, SD. This drive would've been pretty easy had it not been for Ms. Penelope deciding that she could not stand for another minute of being in the carrier with Mr. Winston (I think that he felt the same because she kept bothering him while he was trying to sleep)! Once we gave Ms. Penelope a second dose of "happy" medicine, she didn't bother a soul!
Big eyes...Ms. P is the one in the front and Mr. Winston is laying down behind her.
This is Mammoth Springs...this is where the creepy lady called Jason over to her car so that she could tell him the legend of the spring! This is when I really started to noticed how different people can be in different parts of the country!
P and Winston lounging on our bed in Birmingham; no clue that they were about to be uprooted!
The last three nights in our house in Birmingham, my honey and I slept on a mattress on the floor. Mr. Winston rarely gets to sleep with us, but when he does, he insists on having his head up with ours!! He is truly a "momma and daddy's" boy!
This is toward the end of leg 1 of our journey. Ms. P realized that she could lay on the dash and enjoy an incredible view of the sky and road. She loved it and started rolling around like she was putting on a show!!
She finally settled into a nap on the dash...such a fat tummy!
Once P was re-dosed on leg 2 of the journey she crawled into the floorboard in the back and did not move for hours. My honey and I were really wanting a pulse oximeter to monitor her breathing!!...we were afraid we had gone a little overboard with the meds, but she was just fine!
More flat country!
This is the sign that made us very happy! It says Aberdeen and indicates the exit to get onto the road that would EVENTUALLY take us to our new home.
Mr. Winston has never seen a front-loading washing machine before, except on TV...he was quite intrigued.
This is our third bedroom, also known as the laundry room...you can still see Winston looking at the washer!
Dining Table and Kitchen Bar. And our huge kitchen with great appliances!
Living room with remote controlled fire place:)...The dining/kitchen/living area is one big open space.
Master Bath with nice sized shower. Guest bath has a jacuzzi tub!
Mom, I thought you would appreciate some of the furniture that is here. There are two of these wonderful chest/wardrobe things. I've never seen such closet/storage space in one condo in my whole life!
Master Bedroom...This picture does not do this room justice. That bed is king size and the above pictured wardrobe was also in the room along with bathroom and large closet!
This is the kitties' room. They sleep in here and take naps in here...they really like it. Mr. Winston is napping in there right now. The blanket on the bed (the black one) came from home and they love laying on it.
