Some Explaining...

I realized the other night that I haven't explained what my honey and I are going to be doing on this grand adventure...so here it is:
My honey is a pediatrician and has worked at the Children's Hospital of Alabama for the past 5 years as a pediatric hospitalist.  I am a pediatric nurse and have worked at the same hospital for a little over 5 years with the last 2-3 years being spent in the emergency room.  We are going to be traveling around the country taking temporary assignments at hospitals that need us.  For me that is known as "travel nursing" and is widely familiar to people.  My honey is doing something that is not as familiar to folks and that is called "locum tenens", which are temporary assignments for physicians.  It is similar to travel nursing, but is not as popular.  So we each have an "agency" who is responsible for finding and placing us in jobs that we agree to and that match our skills.  These assignments can last from 5 weeks to 6 months.  Now, my honey and I do not have the same "agency" so it is a bit of a challenge to find a nursing assignment and a doctor assignment in the same town, but that is our goal.
In South Dakota, our assignment will be for 3 months with the option to extend it if we would like.  The city is rural and does not need nurses, so only my honey will be working during this assignment.  I hope to find some part-time job that is totally different from anything I've ever done!!  We'll see what happens.  The challenge with finding nursing and doctor assignments in the same place (we have found) is that rural areas need doctors but not nurses; big cities need nurses, but have plenty of doctors!  So, ideally, we would find an assignment for my honey that is in a rural town near a big city...perfect!  So, we shall see what happens...there may be some time (like in South Dakota) when just one of us has an assignment...but we are okay with that!
Now you know the story!
