Almost on the road again...again...

Well, we are getting ready to hit the road again...we are leaving Aberdeen on Thursday morning!  Its crazy to look back to when we first arrived here and how lonely it was and the culture so foreign.  But now I will miss the people here, our church and even some aspects of the city itself.  Its been nice to live somewhere where the pace is slower and more humble...I will value what I have learned here.  I have also loved not dealing with traffic jams or rush-hour traffic.  It is starting to become dark and cold, so winter is about to pounce on us, so hopefully we will be out of town before that happens.  God has truly blessed my honey and me greatly here in Aberdeen with good friends at work and church, wonderful neighbors, a lovely condo with the only parking deck in the city!  Our jobs have been wonderful and we have come to admire aspects of this area.  I can't express how grateful we are to have had the opportunity to attend NewLife Church while we've been here.  The pastor has helped increase our view of the Bible and our faith and the people have prayed for my migraines and cared about me and they have kept up with details of our lives.  We just pray the we can find a church this wonderful in New Mexico!
I always get sentimental because I am an emotional personality and I know that it will take me a couple of days to get over leaving this "home" and greeting change again.  But thank goodness wherever my honey is that is my home!

This is one of our neighbors, Buddy. He loves to come visit us and is really attracted to Ms. P, but she hates him!! Buddy lives with our other neighbor, Peter.  He is very large and very shiny!

Here's a picture of our sweet kitties enjoying the fireplace.

This is the couple that I blogged about right when we moved here.  They recently had moved to Aberdeen from Raleigh, NC, and we found common ground in that.  Vicky let me go to her home and enjoy sitting on the porch with her dogs when I was so discouraged.  She was such a blessing.  Her yellow lab, Dixie, is so sweet and went to hunting school recently.  She has been doing really well as she has gone out to hunt this season.

This is Sabrina, the receptionist at our office.  She recently took a job somewhere else, but she was one of the first ones to tell us good places to eat and things to do. We really appreciated her help in getting us acclimated to this culture and community.  Sabrina, was what one might call: feisty!!  She kept things interesting at work!

Here's a picture of Pastor Joe, we wanted to get one with him but missed him because he was sick on our last day at NewLife.  Jason snatched this off the internet and it'll get the point across as well as help us remember Pastor Joe who was so instrumental in our lives.  It's nice that the random internet photo shows him in a hawaiian shirt because that's what he wears to church lots of Sundays!!!  People seem to think they pass as dress shirts up here.

Today, I was driving home from shopping and I saw a beautiful male pheasant (rooster) in a field near the road!!  Pheasant season started last weekend and we have been enlightened to living in a hunting community!!  Its a HUGE deal involving tailgating parties, the chance to win one million dollars if you shoot the banded rooster and lots of hunter's orange everywhere!  Definitely a new experience for us!

  1. I know it is hard to feel the emotions of leaving your temporary "family" that God provided for you. I know they will miss you guys as well. It blesses me to know that you are the kind of people that others will miss instead of rejoice that you are finally gone! I will pray for grace from the Provider of new friends to come as you leave these sweet people. This blog is such a wonderfull journal idea so you will have these memories documented. All I can say dear ones is for your time in Aberdeen - "Well Done!" Now "move um out!" See ya soon and can't wait.
