Well, we arrived safely in Birmingham on Friday evening! We drove about 11.5 hours on Thursday and then crashed at a Red Roof Inn to catch some zzzz's so that we could get up and keep driving. We chose a Red Roof Inn because we needed a hotel with outside entrances to the rooms in order to sneak our two furry children in :) It work well and the kitties were great in the hotel room...Ms. P almost gave us away because she kept pulling the curtain back and peeking out the window!! We got up Friday morning, loaded everyone back in Stella and drove about 7.5 more hours and arrived in B'ham around 5pm. The kitties were great on the journey and I think my honey and I behaved well also!
On Thursday night of our journey we stopped at Chili's for dinner and left the kitties in the car...well, a couple pulled up next to us and they had two large dogs in the car who were also staying outside while the couple ate. We thought that was hilarious and could just imagine all four of them taking off in one of our cars!! The kitties didn't seem to mind having friends in the next car and when we came back we found the kitties "happy as clams"!
So, we moved a few things into the basement apartment where we're staying for the next three weeks, and crashed Friday night, sleeping until about noon the next day! We have been exhausted and have enjoyed being able to catch up on some sleep!
On Saturday night, we met up with some friends to go to a Halloween Street Festival downtown...the three wives dressed as the Three Little Kittens and our husbands dressed as Karate Kid and two Cobra Kai guys! We had a lot of fun. (Will post pictures soon).
Sunday we went to the church that we attended before we moved away and got to visit and eat lunch with some of our wonderful friends from our small group! Yesterday, we dropped in on our old small group and had a great time!
Otherwise, we have been trying to organize our belongings, run errands and make phone calls and a million other things. So, here are a few pictures from the past several days.
My honey and me driving on Day #2.
Stella loaded down with the kitties inside. Somehow everybody in the car had less room this time as compared to our trip to South Dakota.
The hotel where we stayed and the kitties stayed in secret!
Pictures of the basement where we are living right now. The lady who owns the house has been very gracious and refuses to let us pay rent while we're here. We are right next door to my honey's parents, so that helps a lot because if I need something I can run over and ask. Also, my mother-in-law (Mil) helped clean the basement apartment and make it homier for us before we arrived...we are so grateful!
Mr. Winston in our temporary "home".
Our sweet man, Mr. Winston.
The kitties enjoying exploring the area.
The kitties have a nice bathroom where they sleep at night and also try to play with the water in the sink!
Mr. Winston resting on the "big mama" with his favorite blanket! The "big mama" is the kitty bed that the kitties have had since they were tiny kittens.
Take care and we'll see some of you soon,
Him + Her = Home
Amanda
