Love from San Diego, Zoo Day...

Well everyone, here's the last installment of our San Diego travel journal.  Even though the trip was nearing its end, there was still a lot to experience.  As the last key stop for our trip, we bought day passes for the city bus/trolley system and headed out for the zoo!  In case you don't know, the San Diego Zoo is the largest in the country...and our feet felt it by the end of the day!!

Here's a picture of the trolley...the buses were more functional but much less fun.  For a few dollars we were able to get off and on as much as our hearts desired for the entire day.

Here are some of the characters we met at the zoo.  The yawning gazelle was quite inspiring but the giraffes quickly got our attention...there was supposed to be a baby giraffe but he was in the back with the staff.

This guy was probably our favorite part of the day...he is a young panda who spent the entire day sitting in this position chewing away at his bamboo.  Not very exciting but very funny and cute!

This mom and baby were two of Mandi's favorites...the largest rodents in the world, called Catybaras.  Jason loved to call them prehistoric gerbils!

The zoo had an exhibit with amazing, crazy flying monkeys...they would fling themselves back and forth around their habitat pretty much non stop.  So fun to watch!

As always, we had to take pictures with some statues along the way.  One is of us riding a saber tooth tiger (it was a funny time getting the shot as we were working with two hilarious black girls who wanted to do the same thing!) and the other is Jason challenging a mighty elephant...watch out!

After the zoo, we took the bus back home and regrouped before heading on the trolley to Seaport Village for dinner.  The restaurant shown was an awesome little family place called the Pier which was totally surrounded by the water.  Beautiful...until the rain hit during dinner and we had to run back to the trolley with garbage bags over our heads!

Above is a hip view of the San Diego skyline from our hotel room on our last night.  What a great place and so hard to leave...Mandi is already working on scenarios to move us there!  The morning before we flew out we walked to a famous pancake place called Brian's 24.  It is open 24/7 and serves huge tasty pancakes as well as tons of other items for all times of the day.  We enjoyed splitting an enormous breakfast called the pancake sandwich (including eggs, sausage, and bacon) which sent us off with one last great memory of San Diego.

That wraps up our Anniversary trip.  Hope you enjoyed the blog adventure half as much as we enjoyed the real thing!  Talk to you all again soon.

Jason & Amanda
