Back to Albuquerque...for a real sightseeing adventure!

During our week off in February we took another day trip to Albuquerque to do some exploring of the city.  Albuquerque was much more charming than we had given it credit for.  It holds some neat historical sites with Route 66 and its neon signs, Nob Hill and Old Town.  We had a blast exploring the area together!

On our way to Albuquerque we pass the Camel Rock Monument (and associated casino).  Not really much, but a neat things to see and a good gimmick for casino development.  Below is a picture of the amazing camel rock!

We arrived in Albuquerque in time to visit a really cool shopping area called Uptown, pick up a few things from the nearby mall and then head to Nob Hill to grab lunch on Route 66.  We had an amazing lunch at the Two Fools Tavern...fish and chips and a classic Reuben...yummy!

Jason diggin' in...with a crazy face!

After lunch, we headed to downtown and then Old Town.  Old Town is a neat area that feels like you're stepping back in time...a small pocket of well-preserved Spanish architecture centered around a beautiful church and plaza.  The picture above was taken in that area.  We walked around and explored the charming area and then stopped at the ice cream shop and had a tasty treat!

Here we are in front of the amazing church.

On the outside, the church didn't look that ornate, but as you walked through the front doors you were amazed at the awesome attention to detail in front of you.

Some fun poses with interesting characters!

We had a wonderful time exploring new sites and now have a better appreciation of Albuquerque and its history.  We hope everyone enjoyed taking this journey with us.
