All the amazing people from Corvallis we'll miss...

We wanted to post an entry about the people we met in Corvallis, Oregon, and how we'll miss them.  Its truly a blessing that we get the chance to meet so many wonderful people everywhere we go, its just quite difficult to have to say good-bye to them every time we move.

This is Alli and Mike...we met them at our church in Corvallis.  They were very kind and reached out to us.  We were able to share a couple of meals together which was so nice.  They have two kiddos with lots of energy that kept us laughing!  They pretty much saved the church for Jason, the pastor and his wife didn't even say hello to us in 3 months!

Jason has the opportunity to meet different people as he works at different clinics and hospitals.  This is Gina who worked at the hospital also.  She had just recently moved to Corvallis (she also is a locums doctor) and didn't have anyone around her that she knew.  We met up for dinner out one night and enjoyed some awesome food and good fellowship!

This is Becky...Mandi met her one Sunday at our church when she was visiting for the first time.  She had just recently moved to Corvallis to do a year of rotations for medical school.  Since she was in a new place and didn't  know anyone and Mandi was in the same situation it worked great for them to get to hang out and do fun things together!  Becky went to the fair with Jason and me and we had a great time!  We will miss her and hope that she doesn't go crazy from all of her studying!  BTW, Mandi has a crazy look on her face in this picture because the sun was shining straight into her eyes!

This is Jason with Dr. Jamelah Tucker.  Jamelah is also a travel doctor with the same company.  It was cool because we had heard her name before and even talked to her on the phone a long time ago but this was the first time our assignments overlapped so that we were able to meet her.  Jamelah is full of laughter and is a lot of fun to be around!!  She's a true spitfire and Jason enjoyed getting to work with her.

This is Julia ..., the "boss" of the department at the hospital in Corvallis.  She and her family had recently moved to Corvallis from San Diego after travelling around for the military (Julia was a Navy doc).  She was an awesome boss but it was funny at times because Jason probably has more pediatric hospitalist experience than she does!

Some of the nurses on the Labor/Delivery, Nursery and Pediatric unit (all one place!).

This is Lisa...she was our neighbor!  Because we're always in new places where we don't know anyone having neighbors is important.  Lisa was a blessing because she was always ready to tell us where something was located or where to go pick strawberries!  She also let us borrow two of her bikes to ride around while in Corvallis and taught us how to make our sprinkler system work in our front yard (that was brown)!  We are so thankful that God gave us such a great neighbor!

This is a picture of Mandi with some other ladies that live in Corvallis.  Vesna (second on the left) lived in our neighborhood with her family and they got to be good friends.  So, she invited Mandi to come with her to meet her "lunch bunch" and eat with them.  Mandi had a wonderful time and met some lovely ladies!  Vesna is the kind of person who makes sure you are not lonely and we are so very grateful for her friendship.  She is from Croatia/Serbia and still has a thick accent...loved to hear her talk!

We wanted to include this deer in our list of people we will miss because in our neighborhood there were so many deer!  We would see them walking across the street and eating grass in our neighbor's yards.  Often there would be a mom with her babies walking around the neighborhood...it was so special to see them so close and not afraid.

So, as usual, we will carry these people in our hearts as we build new relationships with people here in Wisconsin.  Our lives are definitely richer for having met and interacted with these folks.

Love,
Jason & Amanda
